Update From A Mad Runner

Oh yeah! Up and at um..10:30 and I've already done my 3.5 miles run...outside. Now I'm going to make some protein pancakes recipe found via Leigh Ann's blog. Then The Hunger Games this afternoon. I am so excited to see this movie I can hardly stand it. If you haven't read this series please do. It's so great.

Anyways, in workout news I have been kicking my 10k training in the ass this week! So proud of myself!
Spring as officially sprung here in SLC. It was so nice out this week I think I even got a little bit of a tan/uneven burn on my neck this week! Although I have been doing good at DOING my workouts, I am not proud of myself as I didn't even run outside in the nice weather! I know, so lame, I used the excuse of my dead Ipod and my dead Garmin and ran inside at our clubhouse. The only positive thing was I was the only one in there and I sweat my ass off. Also I got to see that VH1 has one of the funniest shows on TV right now. Couples Therapy. I was laughing so hard just at the cast I can only imagine how ridiculous this show is going to get. Honestly I probably won't be able to watch it anymore but it was a good diversion from my workout for the day.
Saturday for my cross-train day B and I hit up Snowbird Ski Resort for a morning of spring skiing and some $2 dollar beer. I was so warm and the first run was ICY as can be! I almost stopped after the first run but thankfully B talked me into doing some more runs.  I guess the saying "spring skiing spells I-C-E" is completely true. We were able to get quite a few runs in quickly as it was so EMPTY there! I loved it. Then we had a few beers and enjoyed the sun after the slopes. Honestly I think this weekend was my last for the year so happy it was a great day with B!

ps. i like to add a song on my workout write ups, i actually googled spring songs and this elvis one popped up...who doesn't love a little elvis

Update From a Mad Runner

As I sit here writing this I have the SOREST side abs EVER! I am on a mission to be able to get into shape and stay in shape without having a gym membership. I want to prove to myself that I am able to stick to a workout with out having to pay every month for it. After doing that class last week I know that this is something I can do.
But, last week was a little low point. I think I only made a few days with the Nike Fit workouts and cardio. My hardest workout was probably when I did a quick workout involving a little of everything I know. Pulling out the stair workout again I mixed in arms, abs, legs bur-pees, but incorporated basically any movements I could think of.  Honestly running stairs made me sweat more than any other workout I did!
So anyways, B went snowboarding again this weekend. Of course, but it is getting towards the end of the year, it's getting warm out and spring skiing is on the way. I will have to see how many more times I can go...probably not to many. We had great intentions to get out there on Sunday but honestly with an hour less sleep and a Denny's gift card calling my name we bailed.
On Saturday, again I almost ran outside, but then decided I wanted to watch TV, so was on the treadmill. But while I was running I was thinking about how skinny my legs were when I trained for our 1/2 marathon. I thought "damn, I should do that again", then I about barfed all over because I don't really enjoy running. I remembered what B said to me a while ago, he told me to "train for a 1/2 marathon" I almost punched him in the face, but his through process was in line. He said I could just train for it and not actually do a 1/2 marathon run. So, I decided I will find a 10K training workout and do that. That way I can do the work but not necessarily have to do the run (honestly the actual run is the best part so I might just have to find a 10K to actually do!).
So, wish me luck!!

My fav photo of the week! What a stud...just doing a little research.

Update From a Mad Runner

This week was a lot of laziness. I have to be honest. I didn't want to do a whole lot and to actually be honest I fell like if I snowboard on the weekends it should be enough for me to not have to do cardio for the rest of the week. Alas I wish it were that easy.
Now I do have to say I did run both Saturday and Sunday. It was so cold out Saturday! B and I didn't go snowboarding as we knew it would be so busy and plus it was freezing out! We then laid low and went to a few movies we wanted to see. Sunday B went snowboarding and I decided to stay home. Even though I knew that it was going to be great snow I had a lot of things on my mind, all my projects I need to finish!! So I was able to run and pick up the rest of the supplies I needed, new shoes and some more protein. Yeah, I sneaked in some shoes. Since it was a beautiful day out today I thought about running outside, BUT I didn't, I think people who run outside are suckers, sorry, but you can judge me because I run on the treadmill. I did run though and ended up back in the clubhouse and enjoyed SATC marathon (seriously I've seen every episode through about 4 times in the last year and a half AND I watch them whenever they are on TV, but they still make me laugh so hard!)

On a side note I have to thank my friend for motivating me to try a new workout class called Ballet Blast. It was a combination of ballet warm up moves, a lot of hip flexor strengthening, some core, muscle, more core and stretching. It was like most of the classes I have taken at 24 Hour Fitness a small combo of SET and Yoga. Although I can not say I would do the class again or not it has me thinking if I want to rejoin 24 Hour Fitness. I really miss doing the workout classes, mostly yoga as I can not get into doing yoga at home alone. Taking that class also made me realize I would really push myself more in the group setting rather than the in my living room watching RHOA among others. But I still don't know if I want to commit to the gym again!

On another side note, B went to the Jazz game with a friend on Friday night and big win for the JAZZ vs HEAT! GO JAZZ

Update From A Mad Runner

Cardio this week has been done through snowboarding...and wow do you burn the calories! B and I took last Monday off to hit up the slopes. It was a beautiful Presidents days spent on the hill with my hunny, and boy did we have fun!

The best part of using snowboarding as cardio is when I enter the workout on My Fitness Pal app. They have snowboarding pre-entered and all you have to do is enter the minutes you are riding and (chimes and bells ring) it loads the calories burned and it's a lot!! Very rewarding for a fun day! (doesn't even seem like a workout, my fav)
I have to admit now that I am keeping track of the calories I eat I am finding myself more excited to do cardio so I can enter it into calories burned! Again, very rewarding... I love this app! Thanks Tiff for telling me about it!
end of a fun day, peace
Also exciting is this week is B's annual Snow Jam with his friends. His buddies from all over come to SLC to go skiing and snowboarding for a few days and reminisce about the old days. It's fun to hear stories about these fools before I knew them. A small group came this year as they changed the weekend at the last minute, but it's still an amazing time and I know B looks forward to it. Saturday skiing was boys day, I decided not to go and let B have fun with his buddies but I went on Sunday. Again B and I have Monday off to hit the slopes! So excited to have another day with B and me having fun.

Here's a pic of last Monday up on the mountains....it's just a fun van of K2 snowboarding. (ps. it was an Astro Van, hehe)
another fun facetime pic with Cameron....God he is getting funny!!

Update From A Mad Runner

un·con·ven·tion·al

  [uhn-kuhn-ven-shuh-nl]  Show IPA
adjective
not conventional not bound by or conforming to convention, rule, or precedent; free from conventionality: an unconventionalartist; an unconventional use of material.

This is the exact definition of my workout this week. It has been determined (not by anyone but myself) that just running is not quite doing it for me. The other definition I think I need is...

Insanity...
(I checked all the definitions of this word and it does not quite sound right to me, so I think it means)
1. doing the same thing and expecting different results

With my own made definition (I actually feel like I heard this definition on a TV show but can't quite remember which one, i.e. read Update from a Reality TV Lover) I CAN'T keep just running and doing some abs and expecting that I will get back to my high school self. So because if this REALIZATION I am going to stop focusing on making myself run, do a Nike Training workout or what ever I am planning and just doing something to burn the CALORIES I consume during the days.
Soooooo
This week was a mismatch of Nike Training workouts, other workouts on my Nike Training App, free form workouts on my own for toning to a very irregular cardio week including snowboarding, help moving a friend to even the old school stair running up and down the two steps of stairs in my house! Yep you heard me. Old school running stairs, it was like doing the seven minute drill back in pre-season basketball. (I know who will get this;) Also the hardest 3 minutes of my week, oh yeah and I said 3 minutes.

All in all I feel like I just need to stick to something to keep my (getting bigger) ass in gear. I do get bored with things easy so I think if I can keep it up I will be OK with my results. If not I will be rejoining a gym!

Infamous Stairs...again 3 minutes is all I could do (two sets of these damn things keep in mind!)
p.s. I bet you didn't think you would get a vocabulary lesson did you

Happy New Year

Ok, so I know I'm a day late here. But hope everyone had an amazing 2011 and I hope your 2012 will be even better!

So I guess I should have bit my tongue and made a note to have this last week be my lazy week. I'm glass I met a goal the week before Christmas because this last week I didn't run one day. No not at all! B's brother came to visit us for a week. He got in Sunday evening, we had a great Christmas meal and then I had Monday and Tuesday off to keep them entertained. We had a very active week, walking a lot downtown, malls and PC so that's what I am substituting my workouts with...shopping. And boy was I sore after! hehe.
I don't need to go into a lot of details of the week, a bunch of shoes, sweaters, food and to top it off with the Jazz season opener on Friday night! So much fun and plus they even won!!

So I'll get back to running for some of this week at least. We are going to Big Sky, MT to meet some friends to go snowboarding Thursday through Sunday.

Update From A Mad Runner

One week until Christmas!! So excited and I hoped that this week would go by so fast....but I'm sure to no ones surprise it was so slow.
Monday: 2.5 miles .25 walk, OH YEAH. Started out strong. I figure whatever I run this week will be good. I'm giving myself a little break (it's my Christmas present to myself;). I also did my ab burner workout after.
Tuesday: No run. I managed to get to the store for some last minute gift buying and the wine store. Guess which one I liked more...it's a tough decision. I got home and B was here. He didn't go to the gym, surprise surprise, no really that is a HUGE surprise. I was begging (;) him to run with me. But in the end I decided not to run either. I did a little workout regimen that I found on pinterest.com, my new fun Web site. It was a plyo workout, abs, arms, jumping jacks and lots of that fun stuff. I also did some leg stretches too. The back of my knee is so sore from running on Monday.
Wednesday: 2 miles, no walk. I was so hungry and felt week so I ran and left!! I had to lower my speed just to make it to the 2 miles mark!
Thursday: 2.5 miles, I really pushed myself today and am so glad I did. Around 1.25 miles I was talking to myself and was going to do 1.5 miles, then started thinking of the rest of the week and how I won't have anytime to run on Friday. Then I talked myself into running 2 miles. Then I started doing the math (which isn't easy when you run) and thought that if I make it 2.5 miles I will only have to make it 2 miles on Saturday. Which I could do, or should be able to do.
Friday we had a Christmas Eve Party go to. So much fun to see some friends, have some cocktails and white elephant gift exchange.
Saturday: According to B it is Christmas! I was trying to tell him that Christmas was not until Sunday, but all day long B was bugging me about opening presents. I distracted him a little by heading to get coffee, had a quick trip to the grocery store and then Barnes and Noble. We got some lunch at the Wing Nutz and then hung out at home, cooked dinner and then opened presents. It was so fun to spend some time with B and me.Also Izzie loved opening her presents.
Sunday: We have B's brother and his girlfriend coming to SLC today. We got up early and I ran 2 miles. I ran a little slower but still got through it. Yay for me!! So excited to meet a goal on such a busy week. Now I just need to get the rest of our dinner ready early, then I just need to warm up the dinner again. Now time to enjoy some movies and "word with friends" with B, we are SO addicted!!

Day After Thanksgiving Blahs

So here I am at my work computer, already counting down the minutes to 6p.m....it's not even 11 a.m. yet.
Good thing I brought a book to work and my iPod, and then decided to check out my blog and I realized I hadn't written a blog post for soooo long!
Thanksgiving was great. To be honest, I was more excited about having a day off of work more than I was for the actual holiday of food.
We hit up the mountains for the first time (for me anyways, Ben went a couple weeks ago when they opened). It was fun....and very cold. It's nice that Ben and I can do some things together. We headed to our friends house after to eat some AMAZING food! We had such a great time.
We are laying low this weekend as no money in our pockets. I know I know, it's so sad that I can't take advantage of all these deals, but we are done x-mas shopping and need to save up money for all our car troubles! We had to get a new car for me (well, mine was breaking down so we decided it was time to get a new vehicle) and now Ben's Jeep is having some problems. Not fun!
Don't feel sorry for us. Next week is looking up!
We are picking out our xmas card photos! I am so excited to see how they turned out!
 Baby Cameron Micheal
 New Car
 First mountain day
On Friday, we are going to Minneapolis, MN to visit my new baby nephew! I am so excited to finally meet him in person. He has grown up so much since he was born.

March Already!!

It has been a while, but B and I have been busy (sort of..) with work, friends in town and of course our favorite winter activity...snowboarding!
B's friends came into town last week and spent quite a few days snowboarding last weekend. It was fun to see him with all his friends from before I knew him, but made me miss mine! Hopefully once we are done with the the couple of wedding's we have coming up, I can plan a couple of more trips to visit friends. We do have a NoDak 4th of July planned this year again. It is B's 10 year high school reunion this year, and it should be a good time.
Other than snowboarding, work and trying some new recipes not much else is new.
Here are some pictures that I took, and edited this weekend.
